Mission

Ayr Shopmobility is committed to providing access to Ayr town centre for anyone with a mobility problem either temporary or permanent, to improving their quality of life and providing independence within the community.

Structure

The scheme was originally formed by a steering group, they wrote to all orange badge holders in South Ayrshire informing them about the Shopmobility scheme which was going to open in Ayr and invited them to make comments or suggestions about the proposed scheme, and encouraging them to join the committee.

The volunteer committee, which was later set up, consist of local councillors, representatives from South Ayrshire Council, members of the South Ayrshire Access Panel, legal and county professionals, interested individuals and service users. Their job is to oversee the running of the scheme and make executive decisions.

National Federation of Shopmobility

Ayr Shopmobility is a member of the National Federation of Shopmobility. Its members must adhere to the organisation's guidelines and minimum criteria. This ensures a national standard of service and service users can expect the same high standards when visiting any of the member schemes. Each scheme is however, run on an individual basis and therefore, registration is required with each scheme before using their equipment.
